My Testimony
The scariest day of my life was the day I was told I had a lifelong disease that would never go away and had no cure. The amount of thoughts racing through my head that day were uncountable. In 2021, at just 14 years old, I was diagnosed with diabetes—and that’s when my life changed forever.
The morning after my food-filled birthday was the worst I had ever felt. My body was shutting down from having too much sugar in my blood. That entire day felt like a blur, a rush to figure out what was wrong. I ended up staying in the hospital for four days so doctors could bring my blood sugar down and teach me everything I needed to know about diabetes. At first, it felt impossible. The information was overwhelming, and I didn’t think I’d ever remember it all.
I was scared and frustrated that I’d have to live with this disease for the rest of my life. Having to think about everything I ate, constantly checking my blood sugar, and making sure it didn’t drop during exercise—it all felt like such a burden. Even now, I’ve learned a lot, but something always seems to go wrong.
But giving my life to God was the best decision I ever made. He showed me that no matter the struggle, He is always there. I began to understand that God allowed this challenge in my life for a reason—so I could use it to inspire and encourage others. What once felt like a curse has become a blessing, because it brought me closer to Him.
My Jesus encounter is what gave me my life’s purpose: “Let Jesus Push You Forward.”
One hot morning, I went for a run. I started feeling sick, but I was far from my diabetes supplies. My blood sugar monitor on my phone told me I was fine, so I assumed it was just the heat. I kept going, determined to finish. But things got worse. My monitor updated, and it turned out I wasn’t fine at all—my blood sugar was dangerously low, and now I was even farther from what I needed.
I had only one option: keep running. If I could make it back to my truck, I’d be okay. Step after step, I grew weaker. Spots filled my vision, and I was ready to give up. I thought about stopping, about finding another way—but then something happened.
I tried to slow down, but my legs wouldn’t stop moving. I felt two hands on my back, pushing me forward. I looked over my shoulder, but no one was there. Still, I felt two hands pressing firmly, guiding me step by step and propelling me forward. I made it back to my truck, treated my low, and sat there in shock at what just happened.
Jesus had shown me He was with me. He showed me that with Him, you can keep going, even when you think you can’t. The road isn’t always easy. At some point, you’ll want to stop—but if you trust Him and let Him push you forward, you’ll make it where you need to be.
